The Yeti Radio is... The Yeti Radio.

Radio station? Not exactly. Podcast? Sometimes. Music show, interview series, independent music platform? Sure. It's all of those things, and none of them really describe it.

The name itself came about for a remarkably practical reason. When The Yeti needed a name that could be his everywhere, most of the obvious choices were already taken. The Yeti Radio wasn't.

So that became the name. Across every platform, wherever The Yeti went, The Yeti Radio went with him.

What started as a way to share music gradually became something much bigger: a place devoted to giving artists you probably aren't hearing anywhere else a place to be heard.

That's still at the heart of it.

The Yeti Radio features new and independent music from artists around the world, including plenty of bands and musicians who aren't getting played by mainstream radio. The music comes directly to The Yeti from the artists, bands, promoters, and people trying to get it heard. If it comes in and fits the show, it gets a chance to be played.

There’s no algorithm deciding what deserves an audience, and it isn't about The Yeti telling you what you should like. It's about giving the music a place to be heard, in the hope that somewhere out there, an artist finds a new listener.

And sometimes, that somebody is you.

That idea eventually found a home, The Wide World of Music, built around giving new and independent music from artists around the world a place to be heard.

The interviews came later.

Talking with the people behind the music opened another side of The Yeti Radio. Songs have stories. Artists have stories. And some of the best conversations happen when you stop treating an interview like a publicity exercise and simply let musicians talk about what they do, why they do it, and what happened along the way.

Today, those ideas live throughout The Yeti Radio, from The Wide World of Music and its independent music discoveries to conversations in The Backstage Lounge, all under the growing 49/90 Crossroads Studios umbrella.

There are bigger stations. There are bigger podcasts. There are certainly people with substantially better marketing departments.

That's okay.

The Yeti Radio is about the music, the artists, and the stories behind them.
